Carlos García is one of the latest additions to the SOMOS team. After more than 10 years working in the events sector, he has joined the company as Production & Logistics Manager to lead the Production team, which he defines as "a transversal department capable of supporting any department in the company". With an outgoing and friendly character, he is always ready to face all kinds of challenges and above all to give the best of himself in each event.

How would you define yourself in three words?

I am quite an extrovert person, very close to people and I think I transmit a lot of confidence. People around me often tell me that I am characterised by being cheerful and positive, both personally and professionally.

What is your day-to-day life like at work?

I organise the entire production team, there are currently 8 of us. Once we have a project scheduled, we take care of all the set-up, event assistance and dismantling, coordinating with other suppliers such as AVL and Doinn. In addition, we help the Accounts team when they are setting up different projects, giving them ideas of what the production team can do, what materials we can choose, some ideas of how to surprise the audience... I think we have made a very good team and each one of us is specialised in something, so we have a pretty strong and complete tandem to be able to help in whatever is needed, as we are a transversal department and we can support any department in the company.

What project are you most proud of so far?

I really enjoyed working on a film presentation event in Callao. It was a very intense day because it was raining for the 16 hours we were working, but it was wonderful because many people from different departments came to give support and, despite the problems, we were all on the same page to make sure it went well. It was a big challenge to do such a big event in the rain.

What event/project would you love to organise/work on?

I would love to be part of a project related to a concert of an artist or music festival and also related to shows. I love Cirque du Soleil and I would love to put on something like this, especially because of all the production, scenery, lighting and staging that goes into it. I'm sure we'll do something like that one day.

What would you have done if you hadn't chosen this profession?

Until I was 14 I was going to be a doctor, but when physics, chemistry and biology came along, I realised they weren't for me. Then I wanted to be a journalist, but in the end I ended up working in the world of events.
