WE HAVE SUCCESSFULLY OVERCOME AN UNPRECEDENTED SITUATION

Recently, the events industry has gone through intense and diverse situations that took place over a very short period. This has forced companies to adapt and transform. A good example of this SOMOS Experiences.

The group emerged in 2020 in the midst of the pandemic when EDT, Unit Elements, and Ephemeral merged. In 2022, when Staff Eventos was added, SOMOS took advantage of its strong structures and identified new opportunities to continue reaping rewards. Last November, to commemorate the second anniversary of SOMOS we spoke with CEO César González Perdiguero to learn about the journey. 

- As a group, what has this transformation process for SOMOS been like?
Cesar: From the start, we have been enthusiastically committed to this project, but if I had to sum up these last two years of SOMOS in one word, it would be resilience. Throughout this transformation process, we have faced unprecedented situations: a three-company merger in the midst of a health pandemic, major social changes, production halts, digitalization, adapting to new realities, resuming activities, and other challenging situations.

What challenges has the company overcome during these two years?

C: When we created SOMOS we were aware of the numerous challenges we would face, especially in the context of 2020. But when an exciting project like this crosses your path, you look on the bright side and seize the opportunity. 
One of the main challenges we faced was creating a unified project. One where each agency's DNA coexisted and prevailed in harmony, by integrating the original structures and protecting the key asset, people.

- What has been the group's greatest achievement in this time?

C: These two years have brought about many changes, and we are very satisfied.

We have been able to 100 % integrate each agency's workforce into SOMOS. As a result of the strength of our integration, we have successfully overcome an unprecedented situation such as is the pandemic. Despite all the obstacles we faced, we have managed to retain our clients and land new accounts, while expanding the scope of the projects we develop. 

And we can't leave out our territorial expansion. With headquarters in Madrid, Barcelona, and Bilbao, three of the most important economic areas in Spain, we have managed to stay close to our clients. 

- Innovation has become a fundamental pillar, how do you continually outdo yourself?

C: Client diversity, as well as project volume, allow us to receive a multitude of inputs to identify new development paths and innovation areas. We also devote resources to innovation to explore new opportunities. We were the first agency to open an office in the Metaverse Decentraland. Now, other companies in the sector are following suit. 

One of the paths we are currently exploring is using NFTs to improve user experiences at events, through certifications, while staying focused on people's privacy.

- What new adventures lie ahead for SOMOS?

C: In 2020 we set out a strategic plan that, despite unforeseen events, we are following successfully. However, given how fast-moving society is today, we must stay on our toes and react and adjust to any new changes.

For us, its a time for consolidation. We have undergone many changes and we want to focus on talent, taking care of our great team, partners, and clients  who accompany us daily.

We believe in a sustainable project that centres people and has clear values which allow everyone to enjoy the journey.
