Google put its trust in SOMOS Experiences to carry out the opening of the European Google Safety Engineering Center, the first to focus on cybersecurity, set in Malaga.

Google wanted to open its third European Google Safety Engineering Center, the first to focus on cybersecurity, located in Malaga, marking a milestone with the most prominent facilities in Europe in the field of cybersecurity.

For this, the tech giant trusted our expertise to carry out the planning and implementation for the entire event. 

Our proposal was to create a comprehensive experience that involved all the Google teams and that stood out for its size and complexity. Since March, we worked on the planning and execution of this event, designing a cross-sectional experience with lots of activations running simultaneously, aimed at different audiences.

The official opening of the GSEC

The day of the official opening of the Google Safety Engineering Center, we welcomed journalists, experts, institutional figures and entrepreneurs for a series of inaugural ceremonies.

The building’s rooftop hosted an opening event with Google leaders, followed by a further ceremony with the presence of the Minister of Digital Transformation and the mayor of Malaga. After this, the guests enjoyed important talks and guided tours of the facilities.

The challenge faced by SOMOS

Our challenge was to coordinate a comprehensive event, adapting the spaces and agendas of multiple teams. We constructed ephemeral spaces in an office building, integrating 3D architecture with fixed elements. The graphic design and production teams played a key role in the conceptualisation and implementation of the event.

Despite the complexity, the event was a success thanks to the coordination between the teams and their adaptability to changes: “It was a very complex event entailing many months of work and research. We were facing the challenge of adapting to a work model with which we had never come into contact, given that it was the first time we were working with Google. We adapted excellently to the client and, as a team, we were highly receptive to any changes, demonstrating an open and reactive attitude at all times”, explained Álvaro Salvador, Creative Copywriter at SOMOS Experiences.  

The involvement of prominent professional and institutional figures, as well as the local and international press, ensured the event was a landmark occasion globally.
